How infrastructure modernization, governance, and operational improvements transformed the management of a 300+ website ecosystem.

Rather than simply maintaining more than 300 websites, I focused on improving the systems behind them. From infrastructure modernization and developer operations to governance, self-service resources, and IT collaboration, my role centered on making the college's web ecosystem more scalable, secure, and easier to manage while supporting a university-wide rebrand.

The College of Engineering managed more than 300 websites supporting prospective students, current students, faculty, researchers, and administrative departments. Years of decentralized ownership, aging infrastructure, and inconsistent publishing practices made it difficult to maintain a cohesive digital experience while meeting evolving security, accessibility, and branding standards.
At the same time, the university was undergoing a major rebrand and infrastructure modernization effort. Beyond updating hundreds of websites, the challenge was improving the underlying operating model by reducing manual work, strengthening governance, modernizing infrastructure, and creating more efficient workflows between Marketing and Central IT.

As Webmaster, I was responsible for the health and evolution of the college's digital ecosystem. I managed over 300 websites, led the web development team, maintained shared templates, implemented accessibility and security standards, coordinated cross-functional initiatives, and served as the primary liaison between Marketing and Central IT.
Beyond day-to-day operations, I led strategic initiatives including migrating the college's web infrastructure to AWS, implementing ServiceNow to improve collaboration with IT, redesigning self-service support experiences, launching an open-source live chat platform during COVID, and improving high-impact user journeys across the college's digital presence.

Rather than treating every website as an isolated project, I focused on improving the systems that supported the entire web ecosystem. By modernizing infrastructure, strengthening governance, standardizing templates, improving collaboration with IT, and expanding self-service capabilities, we reduced operational complexity while creating a stronger foundation for future digital initiatives.
